Coffee Roasting Championship(ICRC)

We aim to set up the inaugural Irish Roasting Championship. This is a competition that celebrates the craft, skill, and science behind exceptional coffee roasting. It is a true test of a roaster’s knowledge and precision, challenging participants to showcase their understanding of green coffee selection, roast profiling, and flavour development. Competitors are evaluated on their ability to bring out the best characteristics of each coffee, achieving balanced, complex, and consistent results.

This first-ever Irish Roasting Championship is an exciting opportunity for roasters to showcase their talents, learn from peers, and gain recognition within the specialty coffee community. Whether you’re a seasoned roaster or new to competition, this event offers a platform to share your expertise, experiment with flavor, and help shape the future of Irish coffee roasting!

Details on the ICRC will be shared on the SCA Ireland newsfeed, as well as through social media and email list, so make sure you’re subscribed and following along for future announcements. The aim is to have the competition in late 2025, crowning a Champion to go to the World Coffee Roasting Championship in 2026.

    It is imperative that any potential competitor or judge reads through and understands the rules of the competition.

  • Details on competitor registration will be shared on SCA Ireland website, social media and email. Once live, tickets should be bought from the SCA Ireland website, on a first come, first served basis.

  • If you’re not sure about competing or judging, but would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you! We need volunteers to help with the running of the competition, everything from backstage managing, timekeeping to stage running. Even if it’s one day, we really value your time and input.
